Eastern Radiologists, Inc. (“Eastern Radiologists”) recently identified a security incident that may have impacted some of our patients’ information.
On January 26, 2024, upon completion of our investigation, we determined that some of your information may have been involved in this incident. We began our investigation after identifying suspicious activity in our IT network on November 24, 2023. We then immediately initiated our incident response process, began an investigation with the assistance of a cybersecurity firm, and notified law enforcement. The investigation determined that an unauthorized party accessed our network and, between November 20, 2023 and November 24, 2023, accessed and/or copied some documents on our system. After review of the documents accessed and/or copied, we determined that the files contained information that varied per patient, but could have included one or more of the following: patients’ name, contact information, Social Security number, insurance information, exam and/or procedure information, referring physician, diagnosis information and/or imaging results.
We have and will continue to take steps to enhance the security of our computer systems and the data we maintain. To help prevent something like this from happening again, we have enhanced our network monitoring capabilities, and will continue to assess and supplement our security controls going forward.
On March 4, 2024 we began notifying all patients whose information was impacted and for whom we have sufficient contact information.
