Fast Five with Briana Denton, PA-C

Eastern Radiologists is proud to welcome Briana Denton, a Physician Assistant with our Vascular/Interventional Radiology team. Briana joined our staff in January 2019. She attended Methodist University for Physician Assistant Studies, after completing her undergraduate degree from ECU. She has a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and a Master of Medical Science.

What attracted you to Greenville?

“I like the small-town feel, but I also enjoy the city life. My husband is from Wilson; we met while attending ECU for undergraduate school, so that also promotes a special connection to Greenville. I am originally from Greensboro, and after undergraduate school, I went to Methodist University for Physician Assistant Studies, but came back to Greenville this year. Since we both graduated from ECU, we enjoy that the town is primarily centered, and supports the University.”

What made you choose Vascular/Interventional Radiology for your concentration?

“Vascular/Interventional Radiology encompasses a great deal of areas: vein treatments, oncological interventions, symptomatic uterine fibroid treatments, etc. I support the six doctors in vascular. I enjoy working in a concentration where doctors perform the procedures to solve a problem for the patient. I am able to be a part of the outcome of what they originally came to us to address. Patients we treat are almost always able to notice results after their procedure and that interests me. I also enjoy that I am able to work with various acuity levels- inpatient and outpatient.“

In what way do you support the Vascular Radiology physicians here at Eastern Radiologists?

“I assist with preparing patients for their procedures by reviewing labs, conducting a physical exam, and reviewing the procedure directly with the patient. I aid with port, IV, and catheter drains and central lines removal. I also take part in the follow-up appointments which is a positive experience. In additional, I take part of the rounds on the inpatients– specifically those where we place abdominal drains, nephrostomy catheters or chest tubes. When I see patients come back in for follow-up, it is wonderful to see them happy when their issues are resolved. I like being able to hopefully impact each patient by lifting them up, despite the circumstances they are in, especially oncology patients.”

How do you prefer to spend your free time?

“We are big ECU Pirate fans, so we spend a great deal of time attending games: football, baseball, and basketball. We just recently purchased a home, so decorating, picking out paint colors, making it our own, takes a great deal of time. We also have two dogs who keep us very busy- Lacy (3), and Bailey (6 months), but are a pleasant handful!

I know you recently got married- can you tell me more about the wedding and honeymoon?

“Yes! I got married in Wilmington in April; we just returned from a honeymoon in St. Lucia. It was beautiful, nice and relaxing. I’m excited to begin a wonderful new chapter of my personal life, as well as professionally, here with Eastern Radiologists.”
