Eastern Radiologists installed the Greenville area’s first wide-bore MRI machine in 2015, followed by a second in 2017, offering our patients a faster, more comfortable MRI experience. Eastern Radiologists participated in the inaugural Ride for the Cure, a community biking event created to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer. Eastern Radiologists became the first in the state to achieve Breast Ultrasound accreditation, offering advanced technology in breast cancer detection and characterization. In 2009, we were among the first in the state to earn the esteemed Breast Imaging Center of Excellence accreditation, as awarded by the American College of Radiology.
- [Late 1950s](https://www.easternrad.com/news-events/cool_timeline/late-1950s/) - Innovation begins. Eastern Radiologists became established as an industry frontrunner, performing Pitt County’s first ultrasound in the late 1950s, followed by the first CT scan in the early 1970s.
- [1954](https://www.easternrad.com/news-events/cool_timeline/1954/) - The birth of Eastern Radiologists. Eastern Radiologists was founded by Dr. Allen Taylor in Greenville, NC. The practice was located within Pitt County Memorial Hospital (known today as ECU Health) until opening our first outpatient medical center in 1979.
